Growing up I was never one to do much for Halloween (other than going door to door and getting pillow cases full of candy that is). But now that I have kids, I think I might be having a little too much fun.

I love that I have an excuse to change up meal time. It gives me an opportunity to answer the millionth request for “a snack” and “I’m hungry” with something other than what can I scrounge in the fridge. Now I have purpose. Now I have a goal. My wife might get grossed out along the way, but the kids love it!

And before we get into the season of pumpkin spice everything and Christmas in October, I like to have an excuse to let out a little weird. A time that I can either spend with the kids creating something fun and delicious, or something I can surprise everyone with.

So for breakfast today, we’re going to make some cinnamon roll intestines. Not only is it delicious, but it’s ridiculously easy and takes only two ingredients.

Ingredients:

2, 12.4oz containers of Cinnamon Rolls with Icing

Red Food Coloring

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and grease a quarter sized sheet pan (the one that’s 9 ½” x 13”).

Unroll each cinnamon roll and rearrange them on the pan in an irregular patter (you know, like small intestine).

Bake in a 400 degree oven for 13-17 minutes or until golden brown.

In a small bowl, pour the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls. Add red food coloring and mix. (You might need to add a healthy amount of food coloring to give a nice red color)

Pour both packets of icing into a bowl

Add red food coloring to the icing

Mix the food coloring and icing until evenly mixed

Opt.: Add strawberry jam if you want it strawberry flavored and if you want to see chunks in your blood!

Pour the blood/icing over the cooked cinnamon intestine/rolls. Spread evenly and use a basting brush to brush some of the icing into the folds.
