April Fools is around the corner and I love having permission to prank my kids (we have to honor tradition). I like to keep things pretty innocent (I’m not cool enough to do a TikTok balloon prank), so today I’m going to offer my kids their first frosty brew. Of course, I’m really just offering them apple juice.

But to give them a glass of juice isn’t enough. We’re going to turn that glass of juice into jello. And this is where the prank gets ageless. While I plan on giving this to my kids this time, you know I’m going to prank my brothers the next time I pour them some beer.

What’s really great about this recipe, is that it’s super simple to make and you can make it look like any sort of carbonated drink depending on the glass you put it in. You can go with the classic beer stein, pint (or half-pint) glass, or fancy Belgian-style tulip glass (you know, from that time you got really into Chimay).

And if beer isn’t your thing, this also makes a great fool for Champagne (or sparkling wine if you want to get region-specific). Although if you plan to put it in a narrow Champagne glass, make sure you have some long and narrow spoons. Otherwise, you might want to go old-school and go with the coupe glass.
